Sectional assignments are based on the Team Ranking System points earned in
USBC Collegiate-certified competition throughout the season. USBC Collegiate
attempts to place no more than two of the top eight schools and no more than four
of the top 16 schools in a sectional based on final TRS totals. Sectional qualifier
fields are determined by taking geographic distance, economics and field size into
consideration.
The sectionals will consist of 32 Baker games each day for a total of 64 Baker
games. The top four teams based on total pinfall in each division following the
completion of competition at each sectional will advance to the 2013 xbowling In-
tercollegiate Team Championships.
In addition, these four locations will host qualifying for the 2013 xbowling Inter-
collegiate Singles Championships on March 8. Competitors at each of the four
sectional events will bowl six games with 24 men and 16 women - the top four
men and top four women at each sectional plus eight additional selections from
the men's field based on size of field at each location - advancing to the national
singles tournament on April 16 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb.

THE BOWLING FOUNDATION TEAMS
WITH AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
ARLINGTON, Texas - The Bowling Foundation and American Heart Association have
teamed on a new program that will deliver Bowler's Ed In-School Bowling program kits to
elementary and middle schools throughout the country.
"Both organizations promote a lifestyle full of activity and healthy decisions," Nancy Schenk,
president of The Bowling Foundation, said. "To be able to impact the lives of children and to
teach healthy habits that include bowling as a heart-healthy activity is a tremendous opportu-
nity."
As part of a two-year agreement, The Bowling Foundation will send Bowler's Ed kits to
schools as a benefit for reaching certain goals through two of the American Heart Associa-
tion's national programs, Jump Rope For Heart
®
and Hoops For Heart
®
, and also will send
kits to schools dedicated to starting a Bowling For Heart program.
More than 30,000 schools take part in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope For
Heart and Hoops For Heart programs. The in-school programs teach students about heart
health, and gives them the opportunity to earn gift certificates for free physical education
equipment for their schools.
"Educating our youth about the importance of physical activity and heart health are integral
parts of the American Heart Association's mission. We are exceptionally pleased to have
an additional opportunity to reach students with assistance from The Bowling Foundation
and the Bowling For Heart program," said Pediatric Cardiologist Michael Gewitz, MD, immedi-
ate past Chair of the AHA's Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young and Professor of
Pediatrics at NY Medical College/Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, Valhalla, NY. "By providing
fun educational tools and easy ways for children and teens to become active, we hope to
begin reversing the childhood obesity epidemic and create a heart healthy generation."
The Bowling Foundation will deliver 350 of the kits to schools that reach certain goals
through the programs. The additional 350 kits will be sent to schools seeking to start a new
Bowling For Heart fundraiser.
"Together, the two organizations have the ability to not only encourage living a healthy life-
style, but show children fun ways to achieve their goals," Schenk said.
The Bowling Foundation will notify local centers when a school receives a kit so they may
look to work with the school on any questions they might have about the sport.
