Presidio Juniors
By: Brian Lim
Welcome back to a quick update from the Presidio Juniors. The winter bowling season
is already at the halfway mark and summer is quickly approaching. In this month’s issue, I
will update you with scores and unofficial results from the NorCal YBA Youth Doubles
Championships.
This year, both the North and South Divisions were combined for the NorCal YBA Youth
Doubles Championship and took place at Cloverleaf Family Bowl in Fremont. Presidio’s
young crop of bowlers fared well in this year’s event, as this is the first season ever for
many of the Presidio bowlers. In the Major Boys division, Kyle Hui and Romeo Cunanan
combined to shoot a 1,622 handicap total to capture 1
st
place. They were led by Kyle’s
games of 199-223-211 for a 633 series. Kyle currently averages 130 and this was his first
600 series. Nice shooting, Kyle! Kyle and his younger brother Kory also teamed up to
shoot a 1,534 handicap total to take 2
nd
place in the Major Mixed Boys division as well. In
the Major Mixed division, Jennifer Supit and Kyle Hui combined to shoot a 1,407 total,
good for 2
nd
place. Special recognition also goes out to Kory Hui, who entered the tourna-
ment with a 111 average and bowled games of 166-193-184 for a nice 543 series. Nice
bowling, Kory! All results were unofficial as of time of this article.
That concludes this brief update from the Presidio Juniors for this month. In the upcom-
ing months, Presidio Bowl will be first-time members of the NorCal YBA Jr/Adult Travel
League and will field a team in the handicap division. Best of luck to the Presidio Juniors
and see you soon!
“Teaming Up Together For Scholar$Hip$”
We are all aware of how important it is for us to continue to find every way possible in
our sport to keep our young people interested in the game, and at the same time, continue
to further their education, after high school. Of course, for many, the only answer to that is
building scholarship money in their Smart Program.
The California Youth Committee continually “burns the midnight oil” at all their meetings,
in an attempt to design and offer our youngsters new and inviting tournament formats and
to the entire bowling community, new and inventive ways of raising funds towards the
scholarship program.
Well, They’ve done it again…..The NEW Adult/Youth Doubles Tournament, for the
weekend of June 29-30, 2013. The tournament will be held concurrently at 8 different
locations: AMF Orchard Lanes, Strikes Unlimited, Cloverleaf Bowl, McHenry Bowl, Mis-
sion Hills Bowl, AMF Riverside Lanes, AMF Bowl-O-Drome Lanes, Entertainment Center.
Although entries have been delivered to all bowling centers, the wonderful news is that
you can download the entry on line right now by visiting our Calilfornia USBC website
calusbc.

Unified IBC Youth Committee Formed
ARLINGTON, Texas “ The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and Bowling
Proprietors” Association of America (BPAA) Boards of Directors have approved the
creation of unified International Bowling Campus (IBC) Youth Committee. The new
IBC Youth Committee will merge the USBC and BPAA Youth Committees.
“This change unifies our volunteers and business leaders in one voice for youth
bowling,”

USBC Youth Committee Chair Frank Wilkinson said. “Creating the IBC
Youth Development Team and bringing USBC and BPAA youth programs together
has proven to be successful. This new committee structure can provide even more
consistent direction and support.”
The new IBC Youth Committee will have 15 members comprised of six representa-
tives appointed by the USBC Board, six by the BPAA Board, and three athlete repre-
sentatives.
“Coming together in support of our youth programs continues to be a hallmark
accomplishment of International Bowling Campus,”

BPAA President Cathy DeSocio
said. “Introducing more young people to bowling is a goal for all our industry leaders
and this new committee sets the stage to streamline decision making and improve
programs.”

Youth will continue to have three seats of representation on the USBC Board of
Directors with the IBC Youth Committee recommending those appointments under
the oversight of the USBC Nominating Committee.
“We see a common objective among industry leaders to enhance our efficiency
and effectiveness for the best interest of bowling,” USBC President Andrew Cain
said. “The IBC Youth Committee is a meaningful achievement and it is exciting to see
broad industry support backing the move toward positive change.”
The initial IBC Youth Committee will be formed August 1, 2013 with representa-
tives from the current USBC and BPAA committees. Future applicants will be asked
to submit credentials through a new IBC Youth Nominating Committee which will
present recommendations to the USBC and BPAA Boards of Directors for considera-
tion.
