Jakob Butturff Wins PBA Northwest/
West DV8 Open for 10th Title

Grants Pass, Ore., (March 26, 2017)
– Jakob Butturff
of Tempe, Ariz., defeated Dean Richards of Tacoma,
Wash., 250-239, to win the Professional Bowlers Asso-
ciation Northwest/West DV8 Open at Caveman Bowl
Sunday.
The win was Butturff‟s 10th in PBA Northwest and/or
West regional competition in less than two years as a
PBA member. He also earned $2,000 for the win.
The 23-year-old lefthander defeated Bryon Smith of
Roseburg, Ore., in a one-ball sudden death roll-off in
the semifinal round match after they tied at 248. The
roll-off went six attempts before Butturff struck and
Smith left a seven-count to lose. Smith defeated Chris
Warren of Grants Pass, Ore., 221-207, in the opening
match and then Smith eliminated amateur Adrian
Anderson of Roseburg, Ore., 227-204.
Richards earned $1,200 for second place, Smith won
$1,000 for third, Anderson $800 for fourth and Warren
$700 for fifth place.

Sands Regency Spring Classic Titles
Reno, Nev. (April 2, 2017)
– Chris Warren of Grants
Pass, Ore. posted a 4-4 match play record and a 16-
game total of 3,786 pins Sunday at the National Bowl-
ing Stadium to win his 47th career PBA Regional title in
the PBA Sands Regency West/Northwest Spring Clas-
sic presented by Storm.
Warren, who earned $2,000, defeated Jakob Butturff
of Chandler, Ariz., by 78 pins to close to within one title
of the record 48 standard PBA Regional titles, held by
PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber. Butturff, coming off a
record nine PBA Regional titles performance in 2016,
had a 6-2 match play record and 3,708 pins for his 16
games.
In the companion PBA50 Open, Ty Dawson of Sunny-
vale, Calif., went 4-4 and knocked down 3,659 total
pins defeating Michael Haugen Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., by
four pins. Haugen had 3,655 pins for his 16 games,
including match play bonus pins. Dawson earned
$1,500 while Haugen received $1,000
Leading into the weekend, Casey Knutson of Sparks,
Nev., defeated Adam Wilson of Reno, 203-164, to win
Friday‟s PBA Sands Regency Spring Challenge pre-
sented by Storm. The Challenge was open to players
who had never won a PBA title.
In the semifinal round, Knutson, who also earned
$1,500, defeated Doug Kempt of Arcadia, Calif., 209-
188, and Wilson defeated Jack Wofford of Flagstaff,
Ariz., 188-134, to set up the championship match.
