SERVING THE BOWLING INDUSTRY SINCE 1967
RENO, Nev. - The 2012 Storm National
Mixed Championships ended in dramatic
fashion as new leaders emerged in 10
divisions at the National Bowling Stadium
during the tournament's final weekend.
Jackie Wyckoff of Campbell, Calif., led
the way as she captured the top spot in
three events, while Renee Steele of Car-
son City, Nev., and John Bertolina of Hen-
derson, Nev., each grabbed the lead in two
events. All standings are considered unof-
ficial until final verifications are made.
Wyckoff, a Bowling Writers Association
of America board member, had success at
the Stadium earlier in the year as she
helped Coefficient of Friction of Palo Alto,
Calif., claim the Scratch Team title at the
United States Bowling Congress Women's
Championships.
In her return visit to the one-of-a-kind
Stadium, Wyckoff rolled games of 269, 231
and 225 for a 725 series to lead Mixed
Singles Women's Scratch and used an
additional 20 pins of handicap per game to
post the top score in Mixed Singles
Women's Handicap with 785. She also
teamed up with Steve Corsaro of Tracy,
Calif., to record a 1,352 combined score to
take over the lead in Mixed Doubles
Scratch.
Steele already had made a name for
herself at the 2012 National Mixed Cham-
pionships by rolling an 816 series and
taking the lead in three events when she
competed two weeks earlier. In her second
effort at the "Taj Mahal of Tenpins," Steele
grabbed the top spot in All-Events
Women's Scratch with 2,043 as well as the
lead in the Six-Game Scratch Singles
event with 1,462.
Steele ended the 2012 tournament
leading four events. She also led Open
Singles Women's Scratch and Handicap
with scores of 816 and 852, respectively.
Bertolina grabbed the lead in Senior
Singles Men's Scratch and Handicap after
delivering games of 225, 238 and 290 for a
753
scratch series and received an addi-
tional 10 pins of handicap per game for a
783
handicap total.
Three doubles pairings also moved into
the lead during the final weekend. Rudy
Moreno of Reno, Nev., and David Dayton
of Carson City, Nev., took the top spot in
Open Doubles Handicap with a 1,478
handicap series, while Larry Cooper of
Reno, Nev., and Dave Hewitt of Fremont,
Calif., grabbed the Senior Doubles Scratch
lead with 1,393. In the Adult/Youth Dou-
bles Scratch division, Welby Spanton of
Citrus Heights, Calif., and Bill Nichols of
Roseville, Calif., worked together to post
the high score with 1,258.
Chris Klerk of Chandler, Ariz., made the
biggest mark in 2012 as he sat atop the
leaderboard in five divisions. He fired an
813
series on his way to the lead in Open
Singles Men's Scratch, and took Open
Singles Men's Handicap with 828. He also
led the way in Mixed Singles Men's
Scratch with 730, and helped 1st Lady and
Company of Arizona City, Ariz., capture
the lead in both Mixed Team Scratch and
Handicap with scores of 2,560 and 2,767,
respectively. Ed Smaglik, Jennifer Cain
and Teri Hamilton joined Klerk in the team
effort.
The 2012 event marked the 10th anni-
versary of the National Mixed Champion-
ships. Starting on Aug. 1, more than 1,500
bowlers from 32 states and Canada made
their way to the 78-lane Stadium to com-
pete at "Bowling's Most Complete Tourna-
ment."

Storm National Mixed Championships Comes To A Close
ABT Sacramento Sponsors
EVERY League
In Northern California
By: Russell Lopes
Amateur Bowlers Tour is excited to announce our $750,000
total league sponsorship available to Northern California league
bowlers.
Every league, every night, every week! Over 300 Female and
300
Male winners each and every week. The only bowlers not
eligible for these free entries are current PBA members.
No catch, no strings, no membership, just FREE Entries.
Something this big will still take some time for the word to
spread. Nonetheless, starting October 15th, 2012, the free en-
tries are all yours.
It may sound crazy that the ABT Sacramento is giving away
over $15,000.00 of free entries just to the Northern California
bowlers each and every week.
What might be even more crazy is LWBT is launching this in
all 5 of its ABT territories, totaling over 3 million dollars of free
entries just in the 2012/2013 league season.
What could be considered insane, to be a league bowler and
not at least be intrigued and look into this crazy tournament club
giving away thousands of entries every week.
Every day in every league, the High handicap series Female
and Male win a Free entry into the ABT Sacramento’s weekend
tournaments.
Winners also receive a Free guest membership for that event.
If the league is scratch, then the high scratch series Female and
Male win an entry.
All you need to do to redeem your free entry is to present
your league standing sheet showing you as the high series that
week.
You have until the 2nd weekend after your winning series
was bowled to redeem your entry.
League bowlers that win free entries are entered into a
League Bowler Win-A-Spot. This special entry type will guaran-
tee that league bowlers will win main event entries by way of the
1
in 5 cut from that squad. During ABT Tournaments, the 1st
scheduled squad time is available for the League Bowlers to
redeem his or her free entry. This sponsorship is for all league
bowlers and the responsibility lies in the bowlers hands to take
advantage of this program.
Do not expect to hear announcements in your centers. We
cannot guarantee there will be flyers or information in your cen-
ters. But what we can guarantee you is this; the free entries are
there, for you the bowlers, every league, every night, every
week. Doesn’t matter if your league has 2 teams or 44 teams,
there will be 1 male and 1 female winner. We will try diligently to
supply each center with flyers containing information on this
sponsorship. The ABT will not ask the individual centers to help
promote nor will we ask league officers to help promote. Any
assistance from the centers or officers will be greatly appreci-
ated and help spread the word more quickly. The beauty of this
sponsorship is that it will be driven by the bowlers and nothing
will stop this ball once it gets rolling! The ABT Sacramento
branch has also began using a tournament format originally
created for the Las Vegas Branch.
Bowlers can now enter $25 Win-A-Spot squads that offer a
more cost effective path to the 1st place each weekend. In-
cluded in this format is the ever popular $5 Sneak-A-Peak op-
tion.

Russell at (530) 848-1471 or (209) 920-4099 for complete de-
tails on all the amazing things the ABT has to offer every bowler
in Northern California.
