9-Tap Tour Red Rock Lanes - Las Vegas, NV
May 22nd, 2016
Total Paid Out: $5,463.00
Our second Sunday event of the year did not disappoint
as we paid out a
RECORD
for First & Second & Third
Place. As predicted, with the
Progressive Pot
at a record
level, setting a new record was well within reach, so with
the Top 3 finishers all fully in the Pot, the records fell. 78
entries created a 'Cash List' of 16 Members, with an AWE-
SOME Total Paid Out of
$5,463.00
, thanks to a large final
squad with a hefty 35 entries. Going into the
2nd Quarter
Championship
next weekend, the
9-Tap Jackpot
has
again grown to a new Record, now at
$2,324.00
.
Ann
McGee
was this week's Jackpot Consolation Winner earn-
ing
$100.00
for her front 4 Taps. You don't want to miss
next week's
$1,000.00 ADDED
Findlay VW/Miller Lite
Open
at
Santa Fe Station
.
Cielito Oreste
put the first BIG number on the board with
4 strong games over 200 for a nice early series of
1011. On a re-entry,
Jimmy Suarez
, visiting from Seattle's
Tour, upped that mark tossing a sweet 1021, eventually
good enough for 4th place. Our 3rd place finisher was the
very 'Hot'
Jimmy Bell Jr
, who posted a really nice 1061
and pocketed a Las Vegas record
$418.00
for his ef-
fort. Jimmy left over $600 on the table last week by not
entering the Pro Pot, but corrected that oversight this week,
getting a piece of this week's Pot.
Guy Hirsimaki
also put
together 4 great games over 200, for a super 1066 series,
nearly earning his 2nd Tour Title of the year. A 2nd place
finish and a SWEET check for another new re-
cord
$817.00
. Our Champion,
Brian Blackman
, edged out
Guy by just 6 pins with his IMPRESSIVE 1072 se-
ries. Brian gets a new RECORD PAYOUT
of
$1,742.00
! Congratulations to Brian, Guy and Jimmy for
your Top 3 finishes this week!
Note:
As we continue to
grow our Member numbers, these record payouts will be-
come below average.
Our newest first-time Champion
Brian Blackman
had
ordered a special embroidered shirt from Seattle, that he
picked up on Saturday. While looking the shirt over, he
commented to Rob that there was a lot space under his
name. Rob then chimed in that he knew exactly what
should be added to the shirt... "How
about adding the word CHAMPION... but
you have to earn it first". Brian liked the
idea and whether a 'Premonition' or not,
the shirt will be sent out to be modified
on Monday morning. So far, Brian has
bowled in 10 events this year and he has
cashed twice, with his best previous fin-
ish a tie for 7th place. Every one of his
entries have been one squad ONLY. Today was going to
be no different as Brian bowled at 1pm and was headed
home, when his brother suggested he should re-enter and
try again. Turns out it was a brilliant suggestion. Brian has
been bowling for 50 years and he used his Storm 'Reign',
drilled up by Craig Pagers out of Colorado.
Cheered on by his brother and commenting he found the
"ZONE" in his second set, Brian was very excited and plans
to celebrate his championship with his brother. He also
thanked the 9-Tap Tour staff for the great job they
do. Thanks Brian we aim to please. Congratulations on
your first Tour Title! P.S. - Brian's brother plans to join the
Tour next week.
9-Tap Tour 2nd Quarter Championships
Santa Fe - Las Vegas, NV
May 28th/29th, 2016
Total Paid Out: $5,902.00
Santa Fe Lanes, another "virgin" stop for the Tour,
hosted our 2nd Quarter Championship
with
$1,000.00
in added prize money provided by our
sponsors Findlay North VW and Miller Lite. After 5
squads of qualifying which resulted in head to head
Match Play competition of the Elite 8, the Tour
crowned its 2nd QC Champion. 17 Members made
the 'Cash List' with a low to cash of $95.00 and over-
all for the weekend
$5,902.00
was paid
out! Our Sunday Finalists were comprised of 10
bowlers from Saturday and 7 from Sunday.
Saturday's Top Qualifier was Al Garcia and he
"hooked up" with Brunswick, another Tour sponsor, to
win a Brunswick Melee. His AWESOME 1084 series
also held up to be TOP QUALIFIER for the weekend
earning him a Top Qualifier Tour jacket and a bye in
the first round and the #1 seed in the Finals.
Daniel Lusung, Ellena Dominguez, and Richard
Roush
also had 4-Taps earning them
$40
each from
the 9-Tap Jackpot. Scores were right on target rang-
ing from the 1084 to 923 for the final spot.
The Final match of day brought together Greg
Mamac and Ric Bisnar. Ric had to spot Greg 17 pins
in the handicap department.
The match started a little slow with both bowlers
struggling a bit. Greg finally got something going in
the middle of the game stringing some strikes to-
gether. Ric, commenting he was tired, put a string
together late in the game but failed to get a strike in
the 9th frame. At this point, Greg had the match won
for his first 9-Tap Tour Title.
The final score was 217 to 207. Greg received
an AWESOME $1,479.00. Greg used his 'Dream On'
ball from Global which was drilled by
Jon
Burroughs,
owner of
JB Bowling Supply
in Hender-
son. Greg commented that he was bowling with Mom
and Dad in his heart as they were not able to attend
and he thanked all the fan support and the coaching
he got from
Alex Watanabe
, another Tour Cham-
pion! As for the money........he is saving it! Way to
go Greg, great bowling.
Congratulations to
Ric Bisnar
on his 2nd place
finish earning him a 'SCARY' $666.00. He told me he
wished it was
$777.00.
This is Ric's second 2nd
place finish. Congratulations Ric, keep trying and
that 1st Title will be yours!
