9-Tap Tour
(From page 5)
Our 3rd and 4th place winners split the Pro Pot.
Jonathan Luna
took home
$283.00 and
Debbie Huston
received $250.00 as she was not in the Pro Pot. On a
side note, in the Elite 8 round, Debbie Huston was matched up against her husband,
Dennis. 1st vs 8th.
Debbie, bowling like a woman
'POSSESSED'
crushed hubby 273 to 239. Ad-
vancing on, Debbie threw a great game of 254 but ran into Ric, the
'Buzzsaw Bis-
nar'
who bested her game with his own 288.
9-Tap Tour Suncoast Bowl June 4th, 2016
Total Paid Out: $4,531.00
Rob and I and the rest of the 9-Tap Tour staff were overwhelmed with the showing
of support yesterday on a day that squad times were drastically changed. Many of
you had to drive
40+
miles round trip and one Member that I know of made that trip
twice because word had not reached him about the changes. That is
a
testament
to our goal to give everyone a tournament experience that you don't
want to miss. We had our largest entry squad to date with 40 in the last round and,
as promised, Suncoast and 9-Tap Tour added an additional $400.00 to the prize
money.
For the second time this year we also had Co-Champions with a tie for 1st
place. Speaking of ties, the Seattle region had some ties yesterday. You
can
t
o see their results page. From 6th place on down to 20th there
were EIGHT separate ties in a row. I have never seen that in 30 years of working in
the bowling industry. If that was not enough, Seattle had two bowlers take the
'Golden Shot' for their JACKPOT and one Member HIT it for
$6,576.00
(
)
and
Our Jackpot got tapped for $100.00 by
Kenny Reynolds
and now stands
at
$2,618.00
(now larger than Seattle's). The Pro Pot dropped just a little as the
Top 3 bowlers left no money on the lanes by being in with a $20 entry. It now
stands at
$1,031.00.
With 65 entries, 13 Members made the Cash List with
over
$4,500.00
paid out overall for the day. Now for the details...........
Daniel Lusung
, having made the Cash List 4 times previously, took advantage of
the 'Best 3 out of 4' format today dropping a 164 game and posting his 786 total at
4pm. Pleased with his efforts, Daniel did not re-enter choosing to sweat out the
6pm squad. With 40 bowlers taking aim on his score, Daniel might have been
sweating it out more than he thought! With only 3 pins separating 4th place from
1st, 3 bowlers had Daniel in their sights.
Vernon Nakamoto, Al Garcia, and Rich-
ard Wash
were closing in fast. Vernon posted a tying score of 786 getting to drop a
165 game to share the glory with Daniel. Al fell just 2 pins short of creating a 3 way
tie with his 784 series and Richard was one pin behind Al with a 783! Our Co-
Champions decided to split the
CASH
and not do a one game roll off and pock-
eted
$894.00
each! Al
Garcia got a NICE check
for
$370.00
for his 3rd
place finish.
Daniel, coming off a
quarter final appearance
last week at Santa Fe
used his Storm Marvel
drilled up by
Mike Foti at
Coast2Coast
. Daniel
shared with me that he
was nervous starting his
first game, but after toss-
ing a 246 in game 2 and
dropping his low 164 in
game 3, he realized he just
needed a strong 4th game to
place high in the rankings. He
did just that with a 233. Cheered
on by his Mom and Dad to his
1st Tour Title, Daniel thanks the
9-Tap Tour staff and he is plan-
ning on SAVING his winnings.
Congratulations.
Vernon Nakamoto
, having
only bowled 3 Tour stops previ-
ously, shot his personal best to
be Co-Champion. Having
dropped his low game of 165
ingame 2, Vernon bowled his
best game of the day, 241, in the last game using is Storm Fight. And guess who
drilled that bowling ball for Vernon? That's right,
Mike Foti at Coast2Coast
. I think
maybe Mike's phone might be ringing off the hook very soon! Vernon commented
that he was very LUCKY today as he could not buy a "Natural Strike" and was glad
it was a No-Tap tournament. He was being cheered on by his wife Lyanne and his
Sensei,
Gary Tsunedo
and his wife Lois. Gary, by the way, is on his way to being a
Life member by bringing the Tour new Members. Congratulations Vernon on your
first Tour title! Well done!
Texas Station June 11th, 2016
Total Paid Out: $3,032.00
A light turnout at
Texas Station
did not discourage the competition in determining
who would be the next
Tour Champion
. We paid out over
$3,000.00
which in-
cluded
$100.00
to
Hul Taing
for his 4-Taps in the 9-Tap Jackpot. Next week
the
Jackpot
will be at an all time high of
$2,681.00.
Seattle Members are getting
spoiled as their Jackpot was hit AGAIN this week for
$1177.00.
More members are
also taking advantage of the Progressive Pot as our Top 3 this week were all in
again for the Pot at the $20 level.
Corben Etteldorf
had a shot at winning a $25
Gift Certificate from
Texas Star Lanes
by tossing a No-Tap 300 but came up short
with an 8 count on his 12th shot.
Christopher Nichols
and
Bryan Tanudra
set the bar at 11 am by posting scores
of 963 and 960, respectively. Texas Station, however, has a history for yielding
some high scores and with two squads to go it was a good bet these scores would
be challenged.
Greg Mamac
, our 2nd Quarter Champion wasted no time in taking
the lead away from Christoper by posting a 1002 with games of 238-247-222-295 on
a re-entry at 1 pm. Not to be outdone,
Tony Madolora
, having joined the Tour just
last week, posted his own 1010 series with games of 225-289-220-276. No one
else was able to get dialed in to best Tony's score, thus our next Champion was
crowned. With Tony taking 1st for
$975.00
and Greg in 2nd place worth
$436.00
,
who would take 3rd? Hul Taing, our Jackpot Winner, posted a 979 to take that
honor. If it weren't for a 186 for his last game, the ending to this Tour stop might
have been different. Hul cashed for $303.00 to add to his
$100.00
jackpot pay-
off. Congratulations to all!
Tony Madolora, having only returned to bowling in the last 2 years after taking a 20
year break from the sport, joined the Tour at the urging of his friend
Davey Bass
Jr
and Tour member. It was only his second tournament on the Tour and he was
bowling one day after celebrating his B-Day. Using a Hammer BadAss, Tony said
he just never gave up and just kept trying to do his best. His advice to others is to
always try hard and have fun. This is great advice as Tony lists among his hobbies
surfing, golfing, dirt bike riding, fishing, and spear fishing. Sounds like he is sure to
have a ton of fun with such a diverse set of activities. Tony plans to pay some bills
with his winnings! Congrats Tony on being the Tour's newest Champ and we look
forward to a great turnout next week at TEXAS STATION.
