Silver Nugget
Crazy 8s
kicked off the competition at
Silver Nug-
get
this weekend. 11 contestants came together to
produce 13 entries, which took only 4 rounds to crown
the last man standing.
Dave Sisler
edged out
Greg
Mamac
after going head-to-head for 2 rounds, with
neither bowler recording 8 or better in the third round.
Greg was unable to record 8 again, and Dave took
advantage earning his entry into
the opening squad, while Greg
settled for a partial entry. We
would like to welcome new mem-
bers
Johnathan Sepanik
and
Mark Levine
to the tour as well
as
Jon Snow
,
Dave Sisler
and
Layne Robinson
for visiting
from Texas.
The main event was our Best 3 of
4 format. With
25
entries, it took
a
711
set to cash and we paid out a
total of
$2,047.00
with 5 members
earning a check. Entering the final
squad was
John Ferrer
, who in his
final game, went from frame 1 to 5
with consecutive 9 Tap strikes,
giving him the lead for the 9-Tap
Jackpot and a
$250.00
payout and
a LasVegasAdvisor.com rewards
book worth over
$3500.00.
Leon
Pitcher
, for the second straight
week, was our first squad high
qualifier with a solid 3 game total
of
777
. That’s good for another free
entry and a 2nd place finish
worth
$362.00.
Life member
Ken James
stayed con-
sistent putting together a nice series of
722,
finishing in
3rd place for
$229.00
. This week, winning his 2nd 9-
Tap Tour Title is
Alex Watanabe
! Seemingly dialed in,
Alex shot back to back games of 278 and 277 with -1
pin hdcp to earn his second title and an awe-
some
$813.00
check. While the Tour does not like to
bring attention to low entry counts, the positive aspect
of such a day is by getting into the Progressive Pot it
helped Alex take home a nice chunk of
change! Completing the
"Cash List"
were
Vernon
Nakamoto
and
Bradley Knepper
.
Silver Nug-
get
again awarded
$15
food vouchers to
their
Hometown Kitchen
to the first 4 consecutive no
tap strikes or the high squad series if there were none.
Robert Rawling
,
Alex Watanabe
and
John Ferrer
all
benefited from this incentive and we would like to
thank
Silver Nugget
for continuing to offer this promo-
tion.
Alex Watanabe
of Henderson joined the tour back in
February of 2016 at Texas Station. It only took him two
events to earn his first title, that being at The Orleans.
This win makes his second of his career. Alex is one of
our many regulars and a very consistent athlete. This
weekend, he began with his
Storm Natural,
but then
switched to his
Storm Pitch Black
that was drilled
at
The K & K Pro shop at Suncoast
. Alex was being
pushed by his buddy
Eric Hatchett
and cheered on by
other bowlers on his pair. He would like to thank the 9-
Tap Tour Staff for putting on the events and enjoys the
weekly competition. Alex is an avid golfer, and will
most likely be using some of his winnings for new
equipment. Congratulations on your second win!
Texas Station:
produced some very fair scores this
week only taking a score of
909
to make the "Cash
List”. There was a total of
$2,924.00
paid out, with the
top
10
bowlers earning a check, as well as a 4-way tie
for the 9-Tap jackpot.
Al Slivka
,
Rick Rendon
,
Ann
McGee
and
Bradley Knepper
got
$25.00
each
for their 3 consecutive no-tap strikes.
Leon
Pitcher
got the day started posting as score of
950
,
good for a free entry into next week’s tournament for
being the high qualifier in the first squad.
Norris Mon-
tague
continued his consistency from the Crazy 8s
event, finishing with a
942
series in the
first squad for a spot in 2nd.
Dennis
Huston
showed up to play in the second
squad along with new Tour mem-
ber
Weston Riley.
Both bowlers finished
with very nice matching
993
sets. A nice
third squad had many trying to catch the
co-leaders to take over the lead, (even
Weston tried to improve his score by re-
entering) but in the end, both
Dennis
Huston
and
Weston Riley
earned their
first 9 Tap Tour Titles as Co-Champions!
When asked if they would like to
'duel or
no duel'
in a one game Championship
Match, the two agreed to share the Title
together! Dennis took home a check
for
$603.00
and Weston pock-
eted
$489.00.
The difference being that
Dennis was in the $20 progressive and
Weston was in for $10.
Leon
Pitcher
captured 3rd place and
added
$275.00
to his career earn-
ings. Congratulations to our newest
Tour Co-Champs!
Greg Mamac
,
Norris
Montague
,
Al Gacia
,
Ron Christen-
sen
,
Mark Kight
,
Ken James
and
Trent
Dungan
rounded off the top 10.
Dennis Huston
of Las Vegas joined the
tour back in May of 2016 during our
2nd Quarter Championship. Dennis has
been bowling for 30 years and has had a
previous best finish of 6th place on the
tour.
