Presidio Juniors
By: Brian Lim
First and foremost, I would like to wish all of you and your families a
Happy New Year.
Official results from the 2013 NorCal YBA Junior/Adult South Division
tournament were announced and several Presidio bowlers were amongst
those who placed. In the ―B‖ division of the team event, the team of Junior
bowlers Kyle and Kory Hui and adult bowlers Brian Lim and David Espinda
combined to shoot a 2,712 handicap total to capture 1
st
place. Both Kyle
and Kory each received a $100 scholarship for their efforts.
In the Boy/Woman division of the Bumpers doubles event, 5 year-old An-
drew Faynleyb and his older sister Olga Proshchuk bowled a 1,131 handi-
cap total to take 1
st
place in their division. Bowling in his first tournament
ever, Andrew bowled games of 76 and 67 for a 143 two game series. An-
drew received a $30 scholarship award for his efforts.
In the Boy/Women mixed doubles event, Kyle Hui bowled games of 201-
245-227 for a 673 scratch series with his adult partner Suzy Marini from 4
th
Street Bowl to power them to a 1
st
place finish with a 1,461 total. Kyle re-
ceived a $105 scholarship award for his 1
st
place finish. The Presidio Jun-
iors would like to thank the adult bowlers that participated in the tourna-
ment.
In late December 2013, Junior bowlers Michael Look, Gian Portuguez,
and Kevin Higgins participated in the 10
th
Annual Junior Bowlers Tour Las
Vegas Main Event at the Texas Star Lanes inside the Texas Station Hotel
and Casino.
Youth Director Darrell Herbert and assistant coaches David Espinda,
Olga Proshchuk, and Brian Lim accompanied them on the trip to Las Ve-
gas. They all participated in the handicap singles event, the doubles event,
and the team event.
Despite their valiant efforts, none of the Presidio bowlers made the cut in
the singles event. Although the bowling portion of the trip was not as suc-
cessful as they had hoped, the Junior bowlers still had a fun time in Vegas.
Darrell surprised the bowlers by taking them to a Bee Gees cover tribute
show at the Texas Station and took them to the Adventure Dome at the Cir-
cus Circus.
