Roll To A Million
Highlights Bowl For
The Cure
By Terry Bigham
ARLINGTON, Texas - February is Bowl for the Cure®
month, and the United States Bowling Congress once
again is encouraging USBC members, their families
and friends to take part in the "Your Roll to a Million"
effort.
The "Your Roll to a Million" initiative kicked off during
Breast Cancer Awareness Month last October and
through merchandise sales, special tournaments and
donations seeks to raise $1 million for Susan G. Ko-
men for the Cure®.
During Bowl for the Cure® month, USBC will have
several ways for bowlers to help the "Your Roll to a
Million" campaign reach its goal:
Shop - At USBCBowlingStore.com, there is great
new merchandise for bowlers to show their support in
the fight against breast cancer. USBC donates 25 per-
cent of all Bowl for the Cure® purchases to Susan G.
Komen for the Cure®.
Donate - Big or small, all donations go directly to
support breast cancer research and awareness. Go to
BOWL.com/BFTC to donate online.
Participate - Bowl for the Cure® events will take place
throughout the country in February, and bowlers are
encouraged to take part in a local event. BOWL.com/
BFTC has a list of events in each state and also has
the tools for bowlers who might want to host an event.
Bowl for the Cure® also is launching the Fabulous
Four essay contest. The contest, open to any female
who has been impacted by breast cancer and/or who
has been involved in supporting the fight against breast
cancer, will give four winners the ultimate bowling ex-
perience.
Winners will receive a trip to the Dallas/Fort Worth
area to visit the International Bowling Campus and
Susan G. Komen's International Headquarters, and
they then will travel to Reno, Nev., to take part in the
USBC Women's Championships.
The winners also will receive bowling equipment and
lessons during their time at the IBC. Contest details,
rules and how to enter are available at BOWL.com/
FabulousFour.
During Bowl for the Cure® month, keep track of
what's happening in the bowling community by follow-
ing Bowl for the Cure® on Facebook (facebook.com/
bowlforthecure) and Twitter (twitter.com/
BowlfortheCure).
Bowl for the Cure® is a year-round fundraising and
breast cancer awareness initiative sponsored by
USBC. Since its inception in 2000, people from across
the country have hit the lanes to raise more than $10
million for breast cancer research and awareness.
