Storm Entering New Era With the
2016 Festival of Bowling
RENO, Nev.
— The Storm Festival of Bowling Featuring
the National Mixed Tournament continues
through November 6, 2016at Reno’s Na-
tional Bowling Stadium, and entries will be
accepted through the final squad on the last
day of the festival!
The Storm Open Festival of Bowling is a
multi-event competition designed for the
entire family, and begins this year with a
truly open format where any combination of
members will be accepted. The Open
Team, 4-person competition, as well as the
Open Doubles, may now include any combi-
nation of sexes. Open Singles competition
will still include separate prize funds for men
and women, however. The Open Festival of Bowling contin-
ues with the Senior classes of Singles and Doubles, as well
as Open Individual All-Events and 6-Game Scratch Singles.
Youth bowlers will also have an opportunity at
$5000
in cov-
eted scholarship money in the Youth Singles competition
and the new Adult/Youth Doubles category.
The National Mixed Tournament offers competitors a more
traditional experience of mixed team, mixed doubles, mixed
singles & all-events formats. Doubles and Teams registering
for the Mixed Tournament must be represent
a balance between male and female mem-
bers.
More than

in prize money and
scholarships will be won with more than

participants. Between
11
different
events, and handicap and scratch divisions,
there are 36 ways to win cash and scholar-
ship prize money.
Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Cir-

Tournament of The Americas Concludes

ARLINGTON, Texas
– The 54th Lee Evans Tournament
of the Americas concluded Saturday in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida, as the United States swept the top spots in mixed
team to walk away with gold medals in 31 of 45 events this
week at Strikers Family Sports Center.
Team USA’s Josie Earnest and Chris Via and Junior Team
USA’s Haley Richard and Thomas Peters coasted to the win
in the Adult category with an eight-game total of 6,731.
In the Junior A division (ages 16-19), Junior Team USA
members Sydney Brummett, Hollyann Johansen, Meeco
Walker and Kenny Ryan also put together a dominating
performance, winning the gold medal with a 6,366 total.
The mixed team title in the Junior B division (ages 12-15)
came down to the final game as the United States held off
Puerto Rico by 21 pins with a 6,184 total. Jonathan Cum-
mins led the way with a 258 in Game 8, and he was joined
in the effort by Tom Hankey Jr., Danielle Jedlicki and Kathe-
rine Corbin.
In the Senior division, Lisa Wasson, Tayna Spaulding,
Charles McLean Jr. and Pete Thomas of the United States
rallied in the final game to move ahead of Canada for a 20-
pin victory with a 5,711 total.
Jerry Teel, Carol Teel, Terri Ward and Doug Hayes of the
United States finished the sweep with a Super Senior win
(5,787).
In each division at the Tournament of the Americas, teams
of two men and two women competed in singles, doubles,
mixed doubles and mixed team. After the completion of
those events Saturday, individual all-events and national all-
events champions were recognized, too.
For individual all-events, which consisted of 32 games, the
United States collected six gold medals as Earnest (6,794),
Brummett (6,564), Ryan (6,726), Hankey (6,658), Thomas
(6,259) and Hayes (6,639) won in their respective divisions.
Canada’s Zach Wilkins averaged more than 221 on his
way to winning all-events in the Adult Men’s category with a
7,103 total, while Puerto Rico’s Sarah Sanes captured the
girls’ title in Junior B with 6,067.
Canada’s Cathy Harvey (5,965) and Lauraine Fast (5,797)
earned gold medals in the women’s Senior and Super Sen-
ior divisions, respectively.
In national all-events, the United States captured gold in
the Adult, Junior A, Junior B and Super Senior Div., while
Canada collected gold in the Senior category by 34 pins.
Brummett, Ryan and Hayes were the only competitors at
the 2016 event to win gold medals in each event.
The Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas is the oldest
annual international tournament in the American Zone. It is
an invitational event for countries in the Pan American Bowl-
ing Confederation (PABCON), the American Zone of World
Bowling.
