West Open Titles

– Chris Warren of Grants Pass, Ore., defeated PJ
Haggerty of Roseville, Calif., 268-235, to win the Professional Bowlers Association
Vanessa Brown Homes West Open, presented by Columbia 300, at Yosemite
Lanes on Sunday.
In addition to the $2,000 first prize, Warren won his 47th standard PBA Regional
title, tying PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber for the lead in career regional titles. War-
ren also has won four PBA50 Regional titles.
In the companion PBA50 Vanessa Brown Homes West Open, Warren Nelson of
Hemet, Calif., defeated Skip Pavone of San Jose, Calif., 255-232, for his first PBA50
regional title and a $1,500 first prize.
Warren defeated amateur Wesley Low Jr. of Palmdale, Calif., 248-180, in the
semifinal round while Haggerty advanced to the title match by defeating Will Garber
of Modesto, Calif., 234-185. Haggerty earned $1,200 for second place. Low and
Garber each earned $900 as semifinal round losers. Low’s money went to his smart

In the PBA50 semifinal round, Nelson eliminated Rick Meneley of Santa Maria,
Calif., 200-192, and Pavone defeated Joe Petrovich of Tracy, Calif., 239-207.
Pavone earned $1,000 for second place. Meneley and Petrovich each earned $700
as semifinal round losers.
