Chris Warren, Darren Tang Team Up to Win PBA50/PBA Sands Regency Hotel
West/Northwest Doubles Title
Reno, Nev., (June 25, 2017)
– Chris Warren of Grants Pass, Ore., and Darren Tang of San Francisco teamed up
to win the PBA50/PBA Sands Regency West/Northwest Doubles Open, presented by MOTIV, at High Sierra Lanes
Sunday.
Warren and Tang out-battled runners-up Michael Haugen Jr. of Phoenix and Michael Tang, Darren’s younger
brother, 449-422, to claim the title.
Warren and Darren Tang took the early lead as Warren strung strikes to build a 30-pin lead after eight frames. A
costly open late in the game by Michael Tang, combined with Haugen’s inability to carry pocket hits, allowed War-
ren to claim his fourth PBA50 Regional title while Darren Tang picked up his second title since becoming a mem-
ber.
Haugen and Michael Tang led the eight-game qualifying round, while Warren and Darren Tang were close behind
and qualified third. In the opening round of the single elimination match play, the Warren/Tang team easily handled
the non-member team of Clay Rees from Riverton, Utah, and Craig Harrington, of Harriman, Utah, 3-0. In the one
game semifinal match, Warren/Tang defeated the San Jose, Calif., team of Gregory Thompson Jr. and Marty Deh,
490-416.
To reach the finals, Haugen/Tang survived a shootout against PJ Haggerty, from Roseville, Calif., and Las Vegan
Ron Mohr, 546-545.
