Kent Takes Second At World Cup
ARLINGTON, Texas – Team USA‟s Marshall Kent of Yakima, Wash., reached the title match while
teammate Danielle McEwan of Stony Point, N.Y., finished fourth as the 48th QubicaAMF World Cup
concluded Saturday in Wroclaw, Poland.
Kent, who took the men‟s division lead on Wednesday, maintained his advantage during Saturday
morning‟s match play to earn the top seed in the three-person stepladder finals. In the title match,
Kent faced Malaysia‟s Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek.
Kent started the first game of the best-of-three finals with five consecutive strikes, but Malek stayed
close. When Kent had an open frame in the 10th, leaving the 4-6-7 on his first shot, Malek took advan-
tage for a 236-225 victory.
In a back-and-forth Game 2, Kent started with four strikes but failed to convert a 2-4-8 split in the
eighth. Malek, after opening with two spares, strung together five strikes and pulled away for a 237-
221
victory to capture the title.
Unfortunately, the top-seed curse got to me,” Kent said. “I led the tournament but ended up sec-
ond. It was still a solid week overall and was still a good week of bowling. Hopefully, one day I will be
able to earn the spot again to bowl the World Cup and win the Cup for the USA.”
Kent started match play on Saturday morning by going 0-3. He then won his next five matches to
post an 8,339 pinfall total beat Colombia‟s Andres Gomez by 78 pins for the top seed in the steplad-
der finals. Malek, meanwhile, had to win his final match in match play to claim the final spot in the
stepladder finals.
Against Gomez in the semifinals, Malek lost the opening game by two pins but won the final two
games by scores of 224-201 and 258-213 to set up the title match against Kent.
In the women‟s division, McEwan entered Saturday morning‟s match play in fifth place looking to
post wins to earn the 30-pin bonus available in each match and possibly climb into the steplad-
der finals. Despite a solid performance, McEwan went 3-5 in match play and finished with an
8,158
pinfall total, 286 pins out of third place.
I started off really well and had some really good games but didn‟t have luck on my side,”
said McEwan. “I lost my first match shooting 258 and that kind of continued. I know I had a
couple of matches I shot 230s, 240s and ended up losing. So those extra bonus pins I needed
didn‟t add up.
I think I bowled well today. I have to walk away with my head held high and use this as a
learning experience. It was a fun week and I learned a lot.”
Two-time defending champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic took the top seed for
the
stepladder finals with an 8,457 pinfall total followed by England‟s Kirsten Penny

And The Lead Changes Again – To The USA
2012
QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, Wroclaw, Poland
A superb set of 1236 was not enough for Hareb Al Mansoori of the USA to overtake Kent Marshall of the USA at the top of the men‟s
leader board in the 48th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland. Kent‟s total pinfall of 3453 – a 230.2 average – puts him in the
lead with just one set of five qualifying games to go.
We did see a new high game posted. First, Hareb shot 298 and then, in the final squad of the day, home player Pawel Bielski got the first
11
but pulled his final shot very wide to leave two pins. Pawel already has one Bowling World Cup perfect game to his credit from Singapore
in 2004. So we are still waiting for the first 300 from the men.
Apart from Hareb, one other player posted a 1200 set: Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek of Malaysia shot 1200 exactly.
In addition we had ten 1100+ sets: Kent Marshall (USA) 1192, Gyorgy Bodis (Hungary) 1178, Andres Gomez (Colombia) 1153, Takashi
Taniai (Japan) 1138, Guy Caminsky (South Africa) 1135, Leonidas Maragkos (Greece) 1135, Mykhaylo Kalika (Ukraine) 1115, Pascal Win-
ternheimer (Germany) 1111, Matt Chamberlain (England) 1110 and Sergey Andreev (Russia) 1110.
At this point the cut for the 24 players to go through to the second round is 3139, a 209.27 average, with Tony O‟Hare of Northern Ireland
just on the cut, 21 pins ahead of Rowan Jay Bautista of the Philippines.
The men will play their final block of five on Thursday afternoon and evening with the second round taking place on Friday.

Singapore In The Lead
2012
Qubica AMF Bowling World Cup,
Wroclaw, Poland
The cut for the top 24 players who will go through to the
second round of the 48th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup
has been made and it saw Blanka Hanusikova of the
Czech Republic make it by just one pin ahead of Martha
Karatzoula of Greece.
Blanka becomes the first player ever from the Czech
Republic to advance to the second round of the tourna-
ment. She was delighted and said: "I was so nervous
today, especially in my last two games, but I am so
pleased that I will be playing in the next round. It is an
honour for my country as well."
Shayna Ng of Singapore remains in top spot on 4659,
99
pins ahead of England's Kirsten Penny with defending
champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic a fur-
ther 50 pins behind in third.
Now in 4th place is Rebecka Larsen of Sweden who
had the high five-game set for the day with 1193, including
the day's high game of 279.
Other women hitting over 1100 were Jane Sin of Malay-
sia (1191), Danielle McEwan of the USA (1170), Krizziah
Tabora of the Philippines (1150), Kirsten on 1148, Milki Ng
of Hong Kong (1123), Aumi (1108) and Janine Gabel of
Germany (1100).
