The 9-Tap Tour got off to an early start this
past Sunday, beginning with our popular Crazy 8s
contest at 10am. We had several new Members
joining the contest for a total of 14 contestants cre-
ating 22 entries. Which helped us almost award
two FULL entries into the main event.
9 bowl-
ers
made it to the elimination round, which took
7
rounds
to complete. In the final round, first time
contestant
John Derespiris
squared off
against
Bruce Smith
and
Ron
McGinnis.
In the 6th round both John
and Bruce failed to record 8 when Ron
struck, earning Ron the win and a full
entry.
For 2nd place, Bruce and John did a
final round. John was able to come away
with the 8 he needed as Bruce missed
the opportunity to force another round.
John was awarded a $50 partial entry
into the main event.
The Tour and its Members were excited
to return to
Strike Zone at Sunset Sta-
tion
after almost 8 months away. After
three early squads,
49
entries fought for
the top spot on the leader board.
10
Members
made the ―Cash List‖ with a
very nice 4 game cut score of 929 to
make it to the money.
The "Cash List"
was also very diversified with both
single and double digit handicap
bowlers sharing in the money!
There
was also a two-way tie for the 9-Tap
Jackpot with both
Brian Colegrande
and Brian Blackman
recording no tap
strikes from frames 1-3, earning
them
$25
each. Robert Rawling was in
the hunt for his 5th Title, posting a
nice
959
series with a nice 300 game in
the mix worth
$42.00,
but that was only
good enough for
3rd
place and a nice
check for
$255.00.
John
Derespiris
finished with an
awesome
977
ser i es
for
2nd
place, bowling in only
his second event since join-
ing the Tour. He takes
home
$340.00
for his efforts. In the end,
Leon
Pitcher
earns his
3rd
title worth
$951.00
and a
White Champion's shirt with a 4-game total
of
993.
This is Leon’s first title that was not a Year-
End or Quarterly event. Congratulations Leon on
#3 and to John and Robert for their Top 3 fin-
ish. Rounding out the Top 10 were
Jermal Wil-
liams, Alfredo Basiga, Ann McGee, Okbum
Shin, Brian Blackman, Ejay Zafra, II and Clifford
Barker.
Leon Pitcher
of North Las Vegas joined the tour
during our Thanksgiving event in 2015. He has
been bowling for about 11 years, and has previ-
ously finished 1st place in two events (2016 Year-
End, 2017 1st Quarter). Leon used his Phaze 2 by
Storm to earn his 3rd win drilled by Brian @ K&K
Pro Shops at Suncoast. He bowls Wednes-
day night in the Gondola Mixers at Suncoast and
has nothing special planned with his winnings, but
would like to thank his fellow 9-Tap bowlers for the
well wishes.
Leon has been working for Red Rock casino for
11 years. He wanted to end with a special thanks
to David & staff for running great tournaments. We
would like to congratulate you on your win and
thank you for helping make the 9-Tap Tour the best
tournament club in Las Vegas.
