Special incentives
ARLINGTON, Texas -
The United
States Bowling Congress has an-
nounced special incentives leading up
to the 2013
including
packages for international or collegiate
t e a m s e n t e r i n g t o g e t h e r .
The Queens, a World Bowling Tour
event, will take place Aug. 31-Sept. 5,
2013 (Labor Day weekend) at Sunset
Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center,
immediately following the conclusion of
the World Tenpin Bowling Association
World Championships, which will be
held in the same center. The steplad-
der finals will be televised nationally on
ESPN2.
"The growth of international and colle-
giate team bowling has been stagger-
ing, and we want those players to com-
pete in next year's Queens," USBC
Managing Director of Media Pete Tred-
well said. "The Queens is one of the
world's most prestigious women's
bowling events, and it's an exciting
format that anyone can win."
If an international or collegiate team
purchases five entries, they will get the
sixth free. Teams will need to have
their entry fee paid prior to July 22 to
take part in this promotion. Official
rules will be posted soon as to who
qualifies to be considered part of a
particular team.
Another incentive is the introduction of
the USBC Shoot-Out, which will be a
special event following Queens qualify-
ing with a $4,000 prize fund.
Four players will advance to the USBC
Shoot-Out based on qualifying scores
with the high player from each of the
following categories earning spots:
international players, collegiate play-
ers, players who have not competed in
the Queens in the past four years, and
all other players. Tournament rules will
dictate the category in which each
player competes.
The USBC Shoot-Out will consist of a
four-person bracket with one-game
matches determining the winner of
each match.
The USBC Queens is open to any fe-
male bowler. Entries paid by July 22
are $275. If paid between July 23 and
Aug. 29, 2013, the entry fee is $300,
while on-site entries are $350. All inter-
national and collegiate players, plus
those who haven't entered in the past
four years, will pay $250 prior to July
22. The prize fund portion of all entry
fees is $250. All entry fees for 2013 are
lower than they were in 2012.
