Young Guns Dominate PBA
Jackson Rancheria Casino
Resort Championship
PBA Touring Pro Josh Blanchard, 27 from Mesa Arizona,
barely defeated 17 year-old junior amateur Wesley Low,
Jr. in the West Region PBA Jackson Rancheria Casino
Resort Championship held February 21-22 at Gold Coun-
try Lanes in Sutter Creek California. The final match score
was 235 to 225. This was Blanchard’s seventh career title,
and a $2500 payday. Blanchard thanked his sponsors,
―Turbo for making the Switch Grip and Ebonite Interna-
tional, the Code of Honor ball was the best this weekend
hands down!‖ Later Blanchard Tweeted, ―Great bowling
kid. Thanks for letting the old guy win one before you win
them all.‖
Low, a high
school senior from
Palmdale Califor-
nia was eager to
capture his second
PBA Regional
Title. In 2013, at
the age of 15, Low

youngest bowler to
win a PBA Re-
gional Champion-
ship — breaking a
34-year-old record
set by PBA Hall of
Famer Pete We-
ber in 1979 —
when the two-
handed left-handed competitor won the PBA Non-
Champion West tournament at South Point Bowling Cen-
ter in Las Vegas. Low, gracious in his loss to Blanchard
posted, ―Great bowling to Josh. On a bright note, I threw
my first 300 in a PBA Saturday during the qualifying
round.‖ Low’s perfect game, the only one of the two day
tournament was accomplished on the Viper pattern. Not
yet a PBA member and maintaining his amateur status,
Low’s earnings will be deposited in his SMART scholar-
ship account.
A total of 78 bowlers entered the tournament. Local Gold
Country Lanes Pro Robert Harmon, won $400 as he fin-
ished in 24
th
place, just ahead of PBA Touring Pro Michael
Haugen, Jr., from Phoenix Arizona. Haugen holds four
national PBA Tour titles. ―This event is a great event for
Sutter Creek and Amador County,‖ said Proprietor John
Swift. ―The Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort has built an
event that fills hotels and restaurants over the weekend,
and we are really pleased to partner with them and the
PBA. It’s made even better when you see a touring-prolike
Blanchard taking on up-and-comer Low in the final match.
You’ll see them both move on in their careers — and all
the competitors will certainly remember Amador County
and the good times and competition that played out here.‖
