- JULY 2014
WOMEN’S CHAMPION-
SHIPS WEEKLY GLANCE
(June 21 – June 27, 2014)
Texas team coasts to Diamond lead at 2014 USBC
Women’s Championships
Bowlieve In A Cure of Arlington, Texas, took the lead
in Diamond Team at the 2014 United States Bowling
Congress Women's Championships on June 26.
Led by 2005 USBC Queens champion Tennelle
Milligan's 752 series, Bowlieve In A Cure rolled games
of 971, 924 and 924 for a 2,819 set at the Reno-Sparks
Convention Center. Storm Nation of Brigham City,
Utah, set the bar in Diamond Team with 2,745 on the
previous squad..
Milligan was joined by Team USA member Shannon
O'Keefe (724), USBC Hall of Famer Lynda Barnes
(678) and two-time USBC Women's Championships
titlist Kendra Gaines (665)..
"The key to success is communication," said Milligan,
who made her 16th appearance at the Women's Cham-
pionships. "We were talking about what was happen-
ing, trusting in one another and helping each other out.
We had a game plan coming in and stuck to it. We
knew what we were going to do and committed to it."
Barnes returned to the RSCC on June 27 and threw
20 consecutive strikes to finish her doubles set, putting
her in position to secure the top spot in Division 1 All-
Events..
The two-time Queens champion started doubles with
games of 219 and 260 before closing the set with the
fifth 300 of the 2014 event, and 25th in tournament
history, for a 779 series. She added 683 in singles for a
2,140 all-events total and moved past USBC Hall of
Famer Jeanne Naccarato of Tacoma, Wash., who
rolled a perfect game on the way to a 2,081 effort.
Barnes' perfect game also helped her and Tennelle
Milligan of Arlington (258) into a tie for the tournament's
highest doubles game with 558. Milligan added a 616
series to help the duo into fourth place in Division 1
Doubles with 1,395.
Hall of famers capture Regular Doubles lead
USBC Hall of Famer Jeanne Naccarato of Tacoma,
Wash., used the momentum of a perfect game to pro-
pel her and fellow hall of famer Robin Romeo of New-
hall, Calif., into the lead in Division 1 Doubles on June
26 at the 2014 USBC Women's Championships.
The three-time Women's Championships titlist fired
the fourth 300 of the 2014 event between games of 222
and 224 for a 746 series in doubles. Romeo added a
733 series for a 1,479 total, the fourth-best doubles
effort in the 95-year history of the tournament.
