2016 USBC Senior
Championships Ready
for Las Vegas

ARLINGTON, Texas -
Nearly 450 com-
petitors ages 50 and older from across
the United States and Canada have
made their way to Sunset Station in Las
Vegas for the
The USBC Senior Championships, a
national event for bowlers who have
qualified through their state's senior
tournament, kicks off Wednesday with
the first of two three-game qualifying
blocks as participants look to claim one
of 12 national titles at stake this week.
The 2016 event features two divisions
- Open and Women's - in six age-based
classifications - 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-
69, 70-74, 75 and older.
After six games of qualifying Wednes-
day and Thursday, the top six scores in
each division, including handicap, will
advance to a medal round, scheduled to
begin Thursday evening at 9:30 p.m.
Eastern.
Advancers will bowl an addi-
tional three games with total
pinfall, including handicap, for
the nine games determining the
champions.
Two defending champions
from the 2015 Senior Champi-
onships in Green Bay, Wiscon-
sin, will travel to Las Vegas to
put their titles on the line.
Kenny DeYoung of Valley
Springs, Arkansas, will look to
win his second consecutive
Open 50-54 title, and Charlotte
Hamai of Mililani, Hawaii, will
look for a repeat performance
in the Women's 70-74 division.
