Jan Lewis And Norma
Barone Lead Senior
Scratch Ladies at Cal Oaks
By: Frank Weiler
MURRIETA - Jan Lewis and Norma Barone are carrying the
high averages for women in Cal Oak's GUY JOHNSON 565
Senior Scratch League, after 25 weeks. Jan is holding steady at
179 with Norma just behind at 176.
Jan has the high scratch series of the season with a nice 693
built on a solid 257 game. The 257 is also the high scratch
game for a lady in the league. Norma has put up some pretty
good numbers herself, with scores of 246 and 625. JOANN
VANDERHEIDE is averaging 171 and has a 246 and 678 to her
credit.
Other ladies with some big scores include JUDY MAGULA
237, VICKY INGERTSON 235, DEB SZCZAWINSKI 232,
LINDA TILLEY 217, NESU GALVEZ 216, and CARMEN CLAY
214.
As conditions make scoring more difficult these ladies are
showing that they still have the skill to compete successfully.
Congratulations ladies for bowling at such a high level. My
thanks to league President PHIL GALVEZ for informing me of
his ladies success.
Power Of The Pins
Bowler, 104, still knocking them down
By: Sylvia Decker
The Telegraph
Betty Gill, 104, bowls in the Senior League at
Tri-County Bowl in Jerseyville. She says she
plans to bowl as long as she can pick up and
throw the bowling ball.
Betty Gill celebrated her 104th birthday
early in December at Tri-County Bowl in Jer-
seyville, where she still bowls in the Tuesday
morning Senior League.
"I can't see too good," the longtime bowler
said. "I don't see the pins. One lady is a big
help; they tell me which way the ball goes and
how many pins I got. I am glad I can pick up
the ball."
